Osteoporosis Prevention

There are five common ways to help prevent the onset of Osteoporosis.

Calcium Intake

Inadequate calcium intake is directly linked to the development of osteoporosis.

The correct amount of Calcium required for a normal diet will depend upon your age. If you have trouble maintaining a Calcium-rich diet, you may consider taking Calcium supplements.

Vitamin D

The body needs Vitamin D in order to absorb Calcium. When your body stops absorbing Calcium properly, it begins to rob your bones of Calcium, which results in bone fragility.

Vitamin D comes from diet and sunlight. Foods rich in Vitamin D fortified dairy products, egg yolk, saltwater fish and liver.

Exercise

Exercise is important to bone health. The best exercises for bones strength are walking, dancing, jogging and hiking.
